Personal Emergency Response Systems (PERS) are safety devices that allow seniors to call for help in an emergency at any time of the day or night. They are advanced technological solutions that provide both older adults and their families with peace of mind, enabling your parent to relax in the comfort of their home knowing that they are never really alone and giving you reassurance and comfort that they are safe at all times.
At Comfort Keepers, we offer our very own line of Personal Emergency Response Systems, which come with a console and medical alert bracelet or necklace, depending on your loved one's taste and preferences. We recommend using PERS in combination with seniorcare, as no technology solution can fully replace a trained caregiver. Our devices are most beneficial when they complement care. This way, the primary caregiver can run errands or go outside the house carefree. Seniors can also stay home alone during the night or when their seniorcare provider is absent for whatever reason.
How PERS Works
PERS consists of two parts, the main part or the console and the secondary part or the bracelet or necklace. The console uses a phone line or in some cases even a cellular network to connect to our Central Monitoring Station while the bracelet or necklace, once activated by a push of the button, allows for two-way communication with the staff at the station.
If your loved one falls, hurts themselves or doesn't feel well, all they have to do is press the button on their bracelet or necklace. An emergency operator will talk to them until emergency responders arrive at their home. Depending on the situation, an emergency operator may call emergency services, a seniorcare provider or family member.
Our advanced system at the station holds the medical and medication histories of all our clients, which is particularly beneficial in medical emergencies as our operators can inform emergency services of your loved one's condition. When emergency services have all the important information about your parent's health, they can provide better medical attention.
